Introductions: Welcome to UNCSW!
Welcome Delegates!
Hello everyone! My name is Rajita Pujare, and I’ll be your head chair this year for the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) for BMUN 70! I am currently a senior at UC Berkeley studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, originally from San Jose, California. As a MUN delegate for all of high school, I have so much passion and love for MUN.
I’m looking forward to chairing this committee and overseeing lots of productive and illuminating discourse. This committee provides space for debate on topics that are broad and universal (i.e. education, healthcare) but are regionally or circumstantially focused. These topics will provide regional and cultural challenges that require nuanced solutions. I care deeply about these two topics, and I’m sure you can agree that they are incredibly relevant and urgent subjects. In my free time, I enjoy making music and eating Thai food.
I am also joined by several wonderful vice chairs this year! <3
Amisha Wadhwa is a third year at Berkeley, majoring in Business Administration and Political Science. She was a Model United Nations delegate for over seven years before joining BMUN, and it was by far one of the most rewarding activities she was involved in (she hopes that you can say the same!). She takes pride in being left-handed and is a sucker for reality TV (from Shark Tank all the way to Love is Blind). Her favorite ice cream flavor is Chunky Monkey from Ben and Jerry’s, and the best era of music is undoubtedly the early 2000s.
James Crawford is a third year transfer student majoring in political science. He is passionate about accessible and equitable education and plans to become a professor of political theory. In his free time he enjoys reading, keeping up with current events, trying new coffee places, and watching cat videos. "The importance of considering the status of wimmin around the world rests in the maintenance and protection of fundamental human rights, democracy, and international cooperation. However, the lives and issues specific to wimmin are often not considered when one analyzes international events and region specific events; such as, the COVID-19 pandemic and the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. That is why I am proud to be a part of the UN Council on the Status of Women, and I look forward to discussions around theses topics."
Bella Grunkemeier is a second year student from Portland, Oregon studying Political Science at Berkeley. This is her first year participating in BMUN. She's looking forward to our committee’s topics on women’s education and advocacy, because it’s something she’s really passionate about. In her free time, she loves playing soccer, sleeping, and rewatching her favorite TV shows and movies. Most of all she enjoys travelling and exploring new places and cultures. She looks forward to meeting you all during the conference!
We all are looking forward to seeing you this conference! Feel free to leave a comment briefly introducing yourself below; we're so excited to hear your thoughts.
